This policy explains how personal data is handled on the VADLA website (www.vadla.is) and when you book or contact us. VADLA is operated by KB15 ehf, kennitala 5412170290, Kotabyggð 15, 606 Akureyri, Iceland (“VADLA”, “we”), formerly Viking Cottages & Apartments. We are the data controller. 1. This website

The website itself does not ask for personal data, sets no cookies and uses no advertising, analytics or tracking tools. Fonts and images are served from our own site, so no data is sent to Google or other third parties when you visit. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) for a short time for security and to keep the site running.

2. Bookings

When you click “Book” or “Check availability” you go to our booking system, The Booking Factory, which collects your name, contact details, stay dates, number of guests and payment details to make your booking. Its booking pages show their own privacy and cookie notice. If you book through Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia or another platform, that platform’s privacy policy also applies. We receive your booking details to prepare and manage your stay.

3. Contacting us

If you email or call us, we use your name, contact details and message to answer you and arrange your stay.

4. The VADLA guest app

Guests with a confirmed booking can use our guest app. How the app handles data (chat, notifications, sauna bookings, orders and payments) is described in the guest app privacy policy.

5. Legal basis (GDPR and Icelandic Act no. 90/2018)

Performance of your booking contract or steps you ask us to take before booking; our legitimate interest in running a secure website and answering enquiries; and legal obligations, such as accounting records.

6. Where data is stored (processors)

Vercel: website hosting. Vercel Inc. is a US company; transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep data

Server logs: kept briefly by our hosting provider for security.
Emails and enquiries: as long as needed to answer you and manage your stay.
Booking and payment records: as long as required by Icelandic bookkeeping law (Act no. 145/1994, up to 7 years).

8. Your rights

You may request access to, correction, deletion or a copy (portability) of your data, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time. Email info@vikingcottages.is, with your booking number if you have one. We reply within 30 days. You may also complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, Persónuvernd (personuvernd.is).

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above.
